This experience is designed for those called to planting or assisting a church plant in the Northwest through nontraditional methods. Interns will be based at Outdoorsmen church and serve at various SBC church plants investing in their ministries.
Outdoorsmen church is a culturally relevant church planted fourteen years ago with the vision of ‘outfitting the body to rescue the searching through uniquely Montanan ministries’. Our relaxed services are only midweek and Sunday nights. Interns will be trained to effectively build relationships with the unchurched through activities such as backpacking, archery, kayaking and camping.
Due to Outdoorsmen Church having more than one church plant, interns will be exposed to church planting at different stages in the journey. Students will meet monthly with Outdoorsmen Church planters and other local church planters, to learn about the highs & lows of church planting and discover effective strategies for church planting.
Students go to weekly classes which include: Bible, church planting practices, leadership, teaching, and training. We will be working through the book, ‘Aim Small, Miss Small’ by Mark Hasenyager. We will meet weekly in coaching sessions to discuss evangelism, discipleship and leadership development. Students will be held accountable for personal quiet times and how God is speaking to them through the word. Through practical ministry experiences, they will learn how to share the Gospel with a different culture and with a mentor discuss how that will impact their lives in the future.
Students will be trained to have a high value for the Word of God, for knowing and teaching the word. They will be accountable for their quiet times and personal study. Sharing weekly with their mentor not only that they are in the word, but how God is speaking to them through the word. They will learn to assess their spiritual growth & fitness through our Multiply Northwest training program where they will be taught how to know themselves, others, family, ministry, and calling. They will have weekly meetings with their coach for accountability, training & evaluation.
