Disaster Relief Help Needed in South Louisiana

flooding-600x343

By Steve Masters

South Louisiana from Lafayette to east of Baton Rouge received from 20 to 30 inches of rain this past weekend. Thousands and thousands of houses have flooded. It has caused unbelievable damage. It is the scope of Hurricane Katrina.

There is a tremendous need for mudouts of homes. That is a term that means pulling out carpet, damaged furniture, and tearing out sheetrock. Many have called asking how you can help. The answer: Sending mudout teams.

The Baptist Collegiate Ministry of LSU is inviting college students to come in on Friday night, August 19th and work on Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August 21st and go home on Sunday night. Lodging is provided at no cost at a local church. A disaster relief ministry will provide all of the meals on Saturday and Sunday.

Teams can work in either the Baton Rouge area or the Lafayette area. Help will be needed once again the next weekend from Friday night, August 26th to Sunday, August 28th.

A third time of service will be on Friday night, September 2nd and Saturday night, September 3rd, and Sunday night, September 4th. The third weekend is Labor Day weekend which gives an extra day to go home.

If you would like to come and serve during one of these three weekends then please call Steve Masters at 225-964-0830 (cell) or 225-343-0408 (BCM) or email [email protected] if you want to work in the Baton Rouge area.

If you want to work in the Lafayette area, then please call Joe Wood at 229-942-8434 (cell) or 337-234-8732 (work) or [email protected]
